SHR system uses HL7 Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources (FHIR, pronounced “fire”) as a standard for describing contracts (data formats and elements). Note SHR doesn’t act as a FHIR resource server, it merely uses FHIR document (see the API documentation) as standard contract for communicating with SHR group of systems.
SHR systems are compatible with the STU3 release (v3.0.0).
Although still under trail usage, we believe that FHIR is the most promising standard and specifically built to address inter-operability aspects. Why FHIR is better?
See here for more information on FHIR.
