The Shareable Health Record (SHR) system is a Centralized Digital system of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare that identifies each citizen with Basic info and demography, can fetch their Visits & service records from different points of Care, Generate Personal Health Profile and share medical records on demand with consent.
Ensuring access to affordable, quality, accurate and compatible healthcare services at low cost, in less time, through the implementation of digital health systems among health service providers for the purpose of ensuring civil rights.
Digitization process started in Bangladesh after 2009. The promotion and spread of information technology in the country and its use is gradually increasing, which touches the health sector and moves towards the implementation of digital health. Management Information System – MIS under the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) established the digital infrastructure to the facilities under DGHS. Devices and internet connectivity are provided to all health care facilities including community clinics in rural villages. The community health workers also got PDA for house hold data collection. An international quality data center has been set up in the MIS building of the Directorate of Health in Dhaka. The Digital Health Strategy has already been approved. In continuation of this progress, the hospital automation system started in 2012 for the implementation of shareable health record (SHR).
In the Public sector, they have IT infrastructure. All the facilities have computers, Printers, Laptops, Internet connectivity both mobile and broadband. Community workers use PDAs with connectivity.
