Terminology Registry

The Terminology Registry is a piece of software with which authorized personnel could manage the medical terminology dictionary to be used in the clinical practice. Terminology Registry can be looked as a code system, ontology, vocabulary, or dictionary. Terminologies themselves maybe described as simply as a simple text, or as complicated as SNOMED or ICD10. We must understand that a Terminology Registry is the one source of truth with regards to terminologies in the HIE ecosystem. A terminology will be always be a centrally defined concept within TR.

Terminologies can be “local” or “standard”. A “local” terminology is one that has been created by a single organization, or even a single individual, for a specific purpose. A “standard” terminology is one that has been developed by a national or international standards development organization (SDO).
